“KITCHIBE / likestone” HOME FRAGRANCE
KITCHIBE/likestone is a new brand of home fragrances created through a collaboration between three expert companies: Shiono Koryo, a Japanese fragrance company with a history of over 200 years; Housen-gama, a producer of traditional Mino ceramics and Qurz Inc., a company founded by the designer Takumi Shimamura.
Shiono Koryo was founded in 1808 in Dosho-machi, Osaka. It garnered success by being the first company in Japan to produce domestically made citrus essences, and has a strong presence in the field of flavors in addition to the fragrance market. Shiono Koryo works with affiliated companies in countries such as Taiwan and China to produce fragrances for businesses both throughout Japan and overseas.
Housen-gama established in Toki, a city in Gifu Prefecture that is famous for Mino ceramics. It began with the production of porcelain bowls, and has expanded overseas as Japanese cuisine has become popular around the world. In January 2016, Housen-gama attracted global attention by launching likestone, a series of ceramic dishes resembling stones, at the Maison et Object trade fair in France.
Designer Takumi Shimamura gained an international recognition with the launch of his cedar bag monacca in 2004. His Tokyo based office Qurz Inc. is focused on product, interior and brand design.
The KITCHIBE project combines Japanese craftsmanship, organic design and iconic scents. Six fragrances have been elaborated: SAKURA, WASHI, MATCHA, YUKI, KITCHIBE and YUZU. Each has an original design inspired by the climate, history and esthetics of Japan.

The KITCHIBE project combines Japanese craftsmanship, organic design and iconic scents.
Six fragrances inspired by four seasons, culture, and lifestyle in Japan:
SAKURA, WASHI, MATCHA, YUKI, KITCHIBE and YUZU.
-
SAKURA
A fragrance inspired by hanami, the traditional Japanese custom of viewing cherry blossoms in early spring. Japanese cherry blossoms last for a mere two weeks, and this seasonal motif has become one of Japan’s most symbolic aesthetics. Japanese people find beauty in the flowers’ short life, from the budding of the first blossom to the fallen petals dancing in the air. The sakura fragrance is inspired by the Oshima-sakura, a variety with a particularly vivid scent.
Top notes : Ozone breeze
Middle notes : Oshima-sakura, rose, muguet
Last notes : Warm wood -
WASHI
This fragrance evokes an image of freshly hand-crafted Japanese washi paper from a traditional mill nestled deep in the mountains with cedar forest all around. Washi paper is a traditional craft made from pure water and plant fibers. Thin enough to see the scenery through, with a soft, matte texture and a natural feel, washi paper conveys a sense of calm.
Top notes : Leather, cardamom
Middle notes : Geranium, ylang ylang, orris
Last notes : Hinoki, cedarwood -
MATCHA
This fragrance evokes an image of a quiet tearoom secluded by dense bamboo forest. In Japanese tea ceremony, several guests sit on tatami mats while a tea master prepares matcha, a special frothy type of green tea, for them. The dry rustling of bamboo stalks outside such teahouses adds to the sense of peace and serenity created by the ceremony. This fragrance will make you imagine the warm steam from the kama kettle and the fresh, green aroma of the tea as it is whipped with a whisk, mingled with the scent of the tatami mats.
Top notes : Leafy green
Middle notes : Tea leaf, hot water, bamboo, Jasmine
Last notes : Tatami -
YUKI
This fragrance evokes an image of a chilly winter morning in a Zen rock garden. A thick blanket of powder snow covers everything in sight and muffles every sound, leaving nothing but peaceful stillness. This fragrance will remind you of the comforting effect that snow can have.
Top notes : Crystal mint
Middle notes : Powder snow, floral cotton
Last notes : Earthy wood, large round stone -
KITCHIBE
Fragrant woods are a centuries-old method for adding a pleasing scent to Japanese rooms. Our signature fragrance combines agarwood, a wood particularly prized for its refined scent, with elements from Japanese and Chinese medicine. The soothing fragrance evokes an image of a traditional Japanese room with a serene atmosphere.
Top notes : Japanese herb
Middle notes : Incense, smoke
Last notes : Agarwood, Peru balsam -
YUZU
The yuzu, Japan’s most iconic citrus fruit, is first harvested in the late-fall chill of November. Deep in mountain valleys, its sweet yet tart aroma fills the air, heralding the change in season. It’s also used to add an elegant touch as a fragrance in rooms or floating on the water of hot springs.
Top notes : Leafy green, bergamot, grapefruit
Middle notes : Yuzu, mandarin, geranium
Last notes : Jasmine
DIFFUSERS
KITCHIBE’s specially designed ceramic diffusers are the result of extensive collaboration
between our designer and craftspeople, who worked together to reach the standard production they expected.
These ceramic products recreate the organic patterns found on stones in nature.
Clay is liquefied and poured into a mold to shape it without losing its natural pattern.

MONOLIS

The protruding reed plates express a different feature of nature for each model: the moon shining on a mountain for Monolis Tsuki and a cobblestone for Monolis Tatami.
